"Though my hands and feet are bound..... I gather".
Janet Frazee Wade
The unleashing of personal freedom is the common thread that weaves itself into my pieces and becomes the focus of my work.
Using cloth as my canvas, hand stitching juxtapositions with found objects and combine to create an assemblage, a visual storyteller.
Hanging threads, mended fabrics along with an array of selected embellishments adorn each fiber piece and together unravel life’s mysteries.
We are reminded that “We are prisoner and jailer both" (Rumi) and that we hold our own key.
I dye, mend, built, deconstruct, reconstruct, paint, wax, stitch, repaint, collage and felt. I gather.
